NATIONAL DIABETES MONTH
November 1st-30th
Diabetes is a medical condition where the blood sugar is too high. This condition can predisposed individuals to multiple other medical conditions, as well as worsen already existing medical conditions.

During the month of November, the start of the Holiday Season, there is an emphasis of awareness towards prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of pre-diabetes and diabetes. According to the CDC, more than 1 in 3 U.S. adults have pre-diabetes—that’s 88 million people—but the majority of people don’t know they have it. Although there are multiple known contributors such as family history, risk factors, and/or socioeconomic disparities lead to the diagnosis and prognosis of diabetes. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), black adults are 60% percent more likely than non-Hispanic white adults to be diagnosed with diabetes.

Please follow up with your primary care physician for your annual wellness visit and/or questions regarding your health status.
